Just as every artist has his or her own distinctive style, I also developed my own style quite quickly.
Below this blog, you can see my signature style, the design of which stems from my time as a florist. I have always had a fascination with the so-called teardrop or waterfall floral arrangement and soon noticed that this cascading form inspired me to incorporate it into my paintings. The design first appeared on my canvases in 2015, after which it underwent further development, making each painting just a little bit different.
It is a design that is built up from many parts and requires a great deal of precision and patience.
Over the past few years, I have created over 100 different variations, and by now this design has become a real Painting by Angel statement.
Unfortunately, my designs are regularly copied in a simpler version, albeit without permission; my photos are used, and stencils of the basic shape are made in various countries—all without asking and for personal gain.
Sometimes people even say that they came up with it themselves or that I copied it from them; well, that seems very unlikely to me, hahaha.
This is, after all, a bit my baby, and it would behoove some companies that have put this design into production to mention the source of inspiration, so that the original work retains its authenticity.
It is not about the hobbyist who is happily being creative for themselves at home—which I can only appreciate—but the companies that apply mass production and then, so to speak, enter the market with something new.
They call that showing off with borrowed feathers.
So, having said that, we can close that chapter again, because there's nothing you can do about it anyway, it is what it is, and moving on..
